Two-Year-Olds

Children who participate in this program turn two prior to September 1st of the current school year. This class is an entry class designed to ease children into preschool. We, as a preschool staff, are committed to provide each child an opportunity to continue to grow and develop in a developmentally appropriate environment. Each child is viewed as a unique individual, with differing learning styles, and levels of ability.

Program Options:

Monday/Wednesday* (2-year-olds): 8:30-10:00 OR 10:30-12:00

Tuesday/Thursday* (2-year-olds): 8:30-10:00 OR 10:30-12:00

Tuesday/Thursday (3-year-olds): 12:30-3:00

Monday, Wednesday, Friday (2-year-olds): 8:30-10:00

• Provide a nurturing, loving, safe environment
• Encourage each child to develop self confidence
• Encourage each child to develop self help skills
• Help each child learn classroom routines
• Encourage each child to develop independence
• Foster each child’s cooperative social skills
• Foster each child’s problem solving skills
• Provide opportunities for each child to learn about themselves and others
• Provide opportunities for each child to play by themselves, alongside another child, and/or with one or two other children
• Help children learn appropriate ways to enter into group play and initiate play with another child
• Provide plenty of space and time both indoors and outdoors for children to explore and exercise their large motor skills
• Provide materials and opportunities for children to develop their fine motor skills
• Provide large amounts of time for children to choose and participate in a variety of experiences designed to enhance a child’s social, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual development
• Encourage language development through the use of conversation, literature, music, dictation, dramatic play
• Provide an environment rich in opportunties for age appropriate experimentation, play and interaction with dramatic play, blocks, science, math, puzzles, art, tactile and manipulative materials
• Respect and support each child’s individual development, interests and abilities
